Blog.
I occasionally share my thoughts about photography and what I am up to via this page. No promises on how often but just know that I appreciate you reading whatever I post here!
Nikon Z7ii after 6 months use. Any regrets?
This blog post is meant to be read alongside my YouTube video of the same name. Check that out here
What I’ve learnt after one year on YouTube.
So what have I learnt from one year on YouTube as a landscape photographer? Quite a bit as it happens. Read on to find out what.
Wild camping thoughts following my return.
In this blog I share my thoughts on wild camping two weeks later. I talk about the stuff that worked, which gear I would change and what my favourite bits of kit were. Definitely going to go wild camping again for landscape photography again though is the main take away.

Thoughts on the Z30 after looking through the settings. So far I’m impressed. I love the menu system

The trials and tribulations of a YouTuber.
So I decided that I was going to ease myself into retirement by doing less days as a teacher. I’m 57 and, although I’m fit and healthy, I have the opportunity to take it a bit easier. Except I’m probably not!
A long, long time ago, just after I met my wife Julie, I told her, while carrying a Bronco ETRS on a tripod down to the base of a waterfall, that I was going to spend my ‘just retired’ years photographing the landscape. I’ve always loved it, since… as long as I can remember.
In a couple of months from now (September 4th in fact) that dream is going to turn into reality. I’m going to become a YouTuber at the age of 57. Carrying that Bronica on my shoulder (the images were rubbish by the way) YouTube hadn’t even been invented and, come to that, nor had the internet.
So, preparation. I’ve been slowly interacting more on Twitter, changed my website, collected all the gear I am going to need. I have stripped my wardrobe of suits, shirts and ties and, instead included fleeces, winter coats, hats etc, I bought some proper walking boots, planned some trips and, sitting here right now (June 2022) am excited and nervous in equal measures.
What will happen? I’ll leave this post here to look back on. Wish me luck!
