Silver Birch in fog

from £75.00

After a month of what seemed like very ordinary photographic opportunities, full of cold, I headed up to Walberswick for a shoot at the beach. Seascape photography is always something that clears my head and cheers my mood. On the way, I drove through this lovely patch of open woodland where I spotted a few interesting silver birch trees alongside the road. However, I decided that I a shoot at the coast was the plan and it’s always best to stick to the plan.

On the way back though I made a note of likely images and parking spots if we had similarly foggy conditions.

The next day I spent mostly resting as my cold took hold but my ears pricked up when the local weather forecast suggested that we could well have frozen fog the next day. I quickly decided that I was going to go back the hour up the coast that it takes to get to this location, the next morning at sunrise.

Next morning, the journey up was very promising. Lot’s of patches of fog, which was freezing on the car windscreen. I arrived a few minutes before sunrise and spent the next three hours photographing some of my best woodland images so far.

This one was from the middle of the session. I love the space in between the trees and moving the tripod slightly eventually meant that I was happy with this composition. The diffused sunlight adds a lovely soft light to the silver birch trunks which I love.
